Deliverables

1. A summation of the review of the materials by an SME (subject matter expert) and a review of the materials by someone familiar with the intended population for whom your IU is designed. This could be someone in your school, a colleague, etc. These two people can be one and the same person if your resources are limited, or access to qualified personnel is limited. If you have the resources, or access, have somebody who is familiar with ID also provide a review. Again, there are three different reviewers in this professional review process, but if you can access only one or two of those people, that professional review(s) will suffice. Submit a two to four paragraph summation of the professional review. Include a brief statement of the reviewers qualifications and reactions to your instructional materials.
2. A plan for generating and collecting evaluative data from one learner according to the suggestions for one-to-one evaluation (Refer to Dick & Carey, pp. 282-288, "Remember that the purpose of the first stage of formative evaluation...is to identify and remove the most obvious errors in the instruction, and to obtain initial reactions to the content from learners."). The plan should include a brief description of where you will conduct the review, who the student reviewer is (in generic terms...the name is not appropriate...pertinent learning characteristics are.) In addition to your plan, submit a brief synopsis of what your findings were in the one-to-one evaluation. The plan and synopsis should be no more than two pages in length.
3. And a plan for generating and collecting evaluative data from other learners..the 'small group evaluation.' This may be two, preferably three learners according to the suggestions for small group evaluation (Dick & Carey, pp. 288 - 292 ... "Remember that there are two primary purposes for the small-group evaluation. The first is to determine the effectiveness of changes made following the one-to-one evaluation and to identify any remaining learning problems that the student may have. The second purpose is to determine if learners can use the instruction without interaction with the instructor.") If your instruction requires significant interaction between students and an instructor, then use an instructor OTHER THAN YOURSELF and evaluate how well the instruction proceeds. Submit no more than a one page summary of how this small group evaluation went, and what revisions were necessary. [Note: For those who have created a design which includes the classroom teacher or instructor as part of the instructional delivery system, you will need a brief description of revisions to the instructor's guide, based upon the tryout lesson involving the instructor and small group instruction.]
4. Submit a draft of your IU to your feedback partner and make whatever revisions are necessary.
